Balashi Gold Mill Ruins

Walk through the remains of Aruba’s final major gold-processing operation.

The Balashi smelter opened in 1899 with furnaces, crushing equipment, purification vats and a small railway system. Gold production ended during the First World War, leaving stone ruins overlooking the Spanish Lagoon and Arikok landscape.
