LYNX is run by Nebula Holdings V.B.A., a company registered in Aruba. This page says what we collect, why we collect it, and who else sees it. It is written to be read, so it is short and it avoids legal language wherever plain language will do.
The short version: we ask for as little as we can, we never sell anything about you, and we never send you marketing. Your email is used to check you are a real person and to send you news about your own ride.
What we collect, and why
When you make an account
- Your email address, so we can sign you in and send you updates about your ride.
- Your name and phone number, because a driver picking you up needs to know who they are looking for and how to reach you if they cannot find you.
When you call a taxi
- Where you are.Either your device’s location, if you tap “use my location” and allow it, or a pin you place on the map, or an address you type. We never ask your phone for your location in the background, and we never track where you go between rides.
- Where you are going, along with the taxi type, how you plan to pay, and how many passengers and bags.
- Messages between you and your driver, while the ride is live.
All of that is shown to the licensed taxi driver who takes your ride. That is the point of it: they cannot come and get you otherwise.
If you turn on ride alerts
We store the notification token your browser or phone gives us, so we can buzz you when a driver accepts. You can switch this off at any time from your account page or in your device settings.
When you search or save
Places and drivers you save are stored against your account. What you type into the search box is counted, but not against you: we keep a tally of how often a phrase was searched and whether it found anything, so we can fix the searches that come back empty. That record holds the phrase and a number. It does not hold your name, your account or your address.
The screen in the taxi
Some LYNX taxis carry a screen. When your ride starts it may greet you by your first name only, along with where you are going. It never shows your surname, your phone number, your email or anything else, it is cleared when the ride ends, and it stops working a few hours later even if the driver forgets.
Cookies
Almost none of LYNX uses cookies. Our visitor statistics are collected without them: we can see that a page was viewed and how fast it loaded, and we cannot see who viewed it.
There is one exception, and it is on one page. If you arrive at our “call a taxi” page by clicking a Google advertisement, Google sets a cookie so it can tell whether that advertisement led to a real taxi ride. It is used to measure the advertisement and nothing else. No other page on LYNX loads it, and if you did not come from an advertisement it records nothing about you.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. We use these companies to run the service, and they only ever see what they need to do their part:
- Your taxi driver, who is shown your name, your phone number, your pickup point and your destination for the ride they accepted.
- Supabase, which stores our database, and Vercel, which serves the website.
- Google Maps and Google Places, which draw the map and suggest addresses. When you search for a place or ask to be located, that request goes to Google.
- Resend, which delivers our emails, and your browser or phone maker (Apple, Google, Microsoft or Mozilla), who deliver push notifications.
- Google Ads, for the one advertising measurement cookie described above.
We will also share information if the law requires it, or if it is genuinely needed to protect somebody’s safety.
How long we keep it
- Your account and your ride history, for as long as you have an account.
- The greeting on the taxi screen, until the ride ends, and at most a few hours.
- Search counts, indefinitely, because they are not about you.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it. Email brian@lynx.aw from the address on the account and we will do it. There is no form and no waiting list.
You can also turn off ride alerts at any time, and refuse or withdraw location access in your browser or phone settings. LYNX still works without location: you can place the pin or type your address instead.
Children
LYNX is meant for adults booking their own transport. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 16. If you believe a child has made one, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we change this page and the date at the top of it. We will not quietly start collecting something new and leave this page saying otherwise.
